As we all know, human progress has evolved over the past few decades. The advent of new disruptive technologies has made our lives easier and more convenient. So, what will our future work look like ten years from now? What will happen to the current projects and jobs which we work for?
In this post, I would like to share my thoughts on the newest trends in technology that will change the current way of global businesses.
What is Disruptive Technology?
“A technology which creates major disruption(positive) in the way society functions. or A new technology that changes the current way of approaching a particular problem or issue.
Examples
- Cloud computing disrupted the market for mainframe computers, Sun microsystems workstations, etc.
- 3D Printing disrupted the market for offset printing and Xerox plain paper copier
- Blockchain is a distributed database that allows for secure, transparent, and tamper-proof transactions that may disrupt the market of traditional databases, especially current banking technology
- The introduction of AI in the workplace is just one example of how technology has changed the way humans work. It is now possible for machines to do some of the tasks that were once done by humans. AI-powered tools are already being used by many companies around the world in order to make their work more efficient and accurate
Top Technologies for the Next Decade
Serverless Architecture and Cloud Migration
Serverless differs from other cloud computing models, in which the cloud provider is responsible for managing both the cloud infrastructure as well as scaling of apps. Serverless apps are deployed in containers that automatically launch on demand when called. Serverless technologies feature automatic scaling, built-in high availability, and a pay-for-use billing model to increase agility and optimize costs.
Hyper Automation via AI/ML
Hyper Automation provides a high-speed route to engaging everyone in transforming the business, supported by automating more and more complex work that relies on knowledge input from people. Hyper Automation involves the orchestrated use of multiple technologies, tools, or platforms, including Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine learning(ML).
Mixed Reality (VR+AR)
MR brings together real-world and digital elements. In mixed reality, you interact with and manipulate both physical and virtual items and environments, using next-generation sensing and imaging technologies.
Internet of Things (IoT)
The Internet of Things or IoT refers to the billions of physical devices around the world that are now connected to the internet, all collecting and sharing data. Internet of Things refers to the rapidly growing network of connected objects that are able to collect and exchange data in real-time using embedded sensors. Thermostats, cars, lights, refrigerators, and more appliances can be connected to the IoT.
Cyber Security
Cybersecurity is the protection of internet-connected systems such as hardware, software, and data from cyber threats.
5G Technology
5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019.
Data Science
Data science is the field of study that combines domain expertise, programming skills, and knowledge of mathematics and statistics to extract meaningful insights from data.
Advanced Robotics (RPA)
Robotic process automation (RPA) is a software technology that makes it easy to build, deploy, and manage software robots that emulate human actions interacting with digital systems and software.
Autonomous or Near-Autonomous Vehicles
An autonomous vehicle, or a driverless vehicle, is one that is able to operate itself and perform necessary functions without any human intervention, through the ability to sense its surroundings.
Next-generation Genomics
Next-generation sequencing (NGS) is a massively parallel sequencing technology that offers ultra-high throughput, scalability, and speed. The technology is used to determine the order of nucleotides in entire genomes or targeted regions of DNA or RNA.
Next-generation Storage
Next-Generation Storage Technology is a state-of-the-art technology that caters to the growing need for improved data storage and management across various industry verticals, including Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI), Retail, IT, Telecommunication, Government, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and others.
3D Printing
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a method of creating a three-dimensional object layer-by-layer using a computer-created design. In recent years, 3D printing has developed significantly and can now perform crucial roles in many applications, with the most common applications being manufacturing, medicine, architecture, custom art, and design.
Renewable Electricity
A renewable electricity generation technology harnesses a naturally existing energy flux, such as wind, sun, heat, or tides, and converts that flux to electricity.
Finally, we have only experienced a small part of what is yet to come. Technologies will definitely play a major role in changing society and the world itself as we already know.
- The cloud will play an important role in the global accessibility of services and data
- 5G networks will open a new chapter in the history of IT
- The future is just as likely to bring opportunities and positive developments, as it is to bring disruption and uncertainty
As technology continues to advance and develop, it’s important to consider what skills we need to learn and grow with the changing trends in IT and be ready for future projects in the above areas.
Tomorrow is hard to predict and the skills needed for upcoming challenges are constantly changing, Be ready for what’s coming.
Great article! I always say that we are like doctors, have to be ready all the time and learning will never stop
